‏A magical winter wonderland in the Franconian Forest

If the snow conditions in winter are good, there is a groomed network of cross-country skiing trails of approx. 50 km around Bad Steben. You can explore the wintry Franconian Forest either in classic cross-country skiing style or skating on six circular trails that can be completed in both directions. Alternatively there are well marked winter hiking trails. There is a drag lift for young skiing fans on Bad Steben’s sledging slope by the former ski jump. Alpine downhill runs are also on offer, e.g. in Ludwigstadt approx. 14 km to the north west, with a 1.2 km long slope or at the Ochsenkopf in the Fichtelgebirge mountains approx. 30 km to the south east.
